Deposit and Payment Policies

  • A deposit equal to the first night’s stay is required at time of booking.
  • Full payment for all days of reservation is charged 7 days prior to arrival.
  • A valid credit card is required to confirm a reservation. Accepted credit cards are VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB.

Taxes and Fees: Room Tax 10.0%, Sales Tax 5.5%, Midwest Inns Association Fee $2 per night per room.

Cancellation Policy for Special Event Dates in 2025 (May 7-12; Aug. 14-31; Sept. 1-8, 18-22, 28-30; Oct. 1-5, 9-13, 16-20; Nov. 5-10, 19-24):

  • Cancellations 21 or more days prior to arrival – $100 cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations 7-20 days prior to arrival – Cancellation fee equal to first night’s stay.
  • Cancellations or changes less than 7 days prior to arrival – Full payment for all days of reservation is charged; no refunds.

Cancellation Policy for All Other Dates:

  • Cancellations 21 or more days prior to arrival – Full refund; no cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations 2-20 days prior to arrival – A gift certificate in the amount paid will be issued, valid for one year.
  • Cancellations or changes less than 2 days prior to arrival – Full payment for all days or reservation is charged; no refunds.

July 16-21, 2025 Special Deposit & Cancellation Policy: A $300 non-refundable deposit per room is required at time of booking. If all or part of the reservation is cancelled, the deposit is forfeited. On May 15, 2025, full payment for all days of reservation is charged. After this date, there will be no refund for any cancellation or change.

Occupancy, Children, and Pet Policies

  • Rates apply to single or double occupancy. Each suite is furnished with one king bed.
  • No extra beds or rollaways are available.
  • Maximum 2 guests per suite. All guests staying in the suite must be identified.
  • Must be an adult to check-in. Infants and children under age 16 are not allowed to stay. Underage guests aged 16 or older are allowed only if accompanied by an adult parent or guardian who is a registered guest.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Service animals as defined by ADA are allowed. Guest with service animals are asked to call us at 608-819-8029 at time of booking. ADA law states it is permissible to ask if the dog is a service animal that is required because of a disability and what work or tasks the dog has been trained to perform.
  • Anyone who does not comply with maximum number of guests, age or pets policies, or who disrupts the peace, quiet and enjoyment of any other guest, will be subject to ejection without a refund. Depending on the circumstances, police will be called.

Other Policies

  • The Buckingham Inn is open for check-in after 4 PM. Self check-in is provided to all guests. Check-in earlier than 4 PM must be arranged in advance with the innkeepers.
  • Check-out time is 11 AM.
  • 2-night minimum stay is required for peak weekends, other peak dates, and special events such as University of Wisconsin home football weekends. Visit Reservations Availability page for details.
  • The Buckingham Inn is a smoke-free property, both inside the inn and on the exterior of the property.
  • A $200 charge is assessed for smoking in the building or if excessive cleaning is necessary.
  • Every guest is responsible for any and all damages that occur in the room, including violations of no smoking policy, and will be charged for items damaged or removed, such as furnishings, linens, towels, robes.
  • If you have specific dietary needs or requests, please inform the innkeepers at time of booking or prior to your date of check-in.
  • Buckingham Inn amenities include free access to video and music streaming services. In the event a guest orders premium programming that results in charges to the innkeepers’ account, such charges will be assessed to the guest’s method of payment. Guests who sign in to their personal streaming accounts are expected to sign out of such accounts before departure. The Buckingham Inn is not responsible for any charges incurred on guests’ streaming accounts.
  • By confirming your booking, you agree to receive SMS messages from us regarding your reservation prior to, during, and after your stay. You may opt out of these messages at any time by replying “Stop.”
